FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you see patients in person? Yes, I see patients in-person in my office in San Francisco. I also offer virtual visits to patients living in California.

Do you take insurance? I do not take insurance. I do provide a super-bill at the end of each session to submit to your insurance provider. I also work with Reimbursify, a company that helps patients file out-of-network claims. Many PPO plans will reimburse patients directly, up to a certain percentage. If you have questions about insurance coverage, please schedule an introductory call and include your plan information.

How do I schedule an appointment? If you are new to the practice, please contact me at reem@reemlibdehmd.com or 323-379-3771 so we can schedule a free 15-minute introductory call. This will give us a chance to discuss your needs and determine if my practice is the best fit for you. (And if it’s not, I can provide referrals and answer any other questions you have.) Existing patients and new patients (after our phone call) can schedule all appointments on this site or the patient portal.

Do you provide psychotherapy and medications? I provide both psychotherapy and medication management; some patients are interested in both, some patients are just interested in one or the other. And if you have a therapist—wonderful! I am always happy to collaborate with them during your care.

Do you see people who are trying to get pregnant, are pregnant, or are postpartum? I do. Note that I have additional training experience in reproductive psychiatry and women’s psychiatry, which includes care throughout a woman’s life cycle, including premenstrual concerns, prenatal and postpartum care, and menopause.

Do you treat people with eating disorders? I do. Eating disorders are best treated using a multi-pronged approach, and it’s important patients have a team that includes a primary care physician, a therapist, and, if appropriate, a registered dietitian. I can provide you referrals if you need them. I also need to be able to communicate with your care team during your treatment.

Do you prescribe controlled medications? I do prescribe controlled medications if and when I feel they are clinically indicated and appropriate. However, I do not prescribe controlled medications on the initial visit.

Do you prescribe suboxone? Yes.

Do you taper patients off benzodiazepines (valium, xanax, ativan, etc)? This also depends on many factors, but yes, I do, and happily so. If you are seeing me to taper off of a benzodiazepine, we will come up with a detailed taper plan and schedule to do this slowly and safely.

How do I get to your office? My office is conveniently located in San Francisco’s Financial District. It is steps away from the BART line (Montgomery stop) and several Muni lines. Note the building has elevator access to all floors. Street parking is tough to come by, though there are some parking garages nearby.

Can my partner or a family member join in the appointment? Yes, absolutely. Note however that if it’s our first appointment, I will require some of the appointment for just you. You can also bring a partner or family to subsequent follow-up appointments if they have questions or concerns about care.

How do you handle calls and paperwork requests? I do not charge for calls under 10 minutes. For calls greater than 10 minutes, you will be charged a pro-rated fee. If you have paperwork, I ask that these be saved for an appointment so we can complete them together. (And also recommend you fill out as much as you can on your own.)

What is your cancellation policy? I request that you give me 24-hour notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you provide less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be billed for the appointment, unless I am able to fill the slot last-minute.

And, finally, what should I call you? My full name is Reem Abu-Libdeh. Professionally, with both patients and colleagues, I’ve always been Dr. Libdeh. Some patients and colleagues like to call me Dr. Reem. All are okay with me.
